The sustainable wedding part 2.

Finally something that isn't about Covid - 19.

I thought I'd break up the doom and gloom of the current state of the world with an update on the sustainable wedding of the year ( it definitely isn't!)

Plans were full steam ahead this time last month, but unfortunately they have come to a grinding halt...

Well the fun stuff has anyway.

Every Sunday for a solid month, myself and my mam went to various different wedding fairs, hotel wedding events, anywhere we could get some free prosecco really! We went to the bride of the year show in the RDS at the beginning of the year, we browsed the different venues on offer, ate free cake samples, and watched a bridal cat walk show where we seen some gorgeous dresses!

Other Sundays were spent wandering around hotel ballrooms showcasing all the different table settings they can do for our big day, banqueting staff float around with different finger foods and prosecco all of which we accepted without hesitation! On Sunday 2nd February, we ventured up the road to the beautiful Summerhill country house in Enniskerry, Co. Wicklow. There we were greeted by the lovely Jade ( who is also my cousin ha!), Jade escorted us to the ballroom where the tables were decked out in all the wedding finery. After we walked around the beautiful rooms of the house and the most breathtaking honey moon suite I've ever seen.

It was love at first sight...

A week or two later, I brought Liam to the Summerhill in the hopes that he would love it as much as I did. We had a gorgeous lunch and were shown around the house and the grounds by Seamus, the wedding coordinator there. He showed us the outdoor area where we can be married and have our drinks reception as well as their new civil ceremony room (neither of us are religious so we won't be having a church wedding). We didn't need time to think about it we booked a date then and there...

August 20th 2021

The next weekend, myself and mam went to Barnardo's in Dun Laoghaire, it's a charity shop but upstairs they have a bridal department, all the dresses are new, never worn but are dead stock or samples from different bridal boutique warehouses, I tried on a few gorgeous dresses as well as some questionable ones. I didn't see the one, but got some ideas of what I want!

Unfortunately, that's about as much as we could plan before 'rona reared it's ugly head. But at least now I have the time and no excuses but to do the boring stuff like the invite list etc. So be nice to me if you want to come *winky face emoji*.

As always, stay safe, stay home.

Yours sustainably,
